Halloween 2026 in SA: where's actually happening this year

ape Town just got ranked one of the top 50 Halloween destinations in the world, so if you're sitting around thinking "there's nothing to do," that's on you. Here's what's actually on this weekend, by city: Cape Town Cape Town Zombie Walk — Saturday 31 Oct, 5pm, starts at Company's Garden. Free, family-friendly, dog-friendly, supports Lucky Lucy Foundation animal rescue. The after-party is 18+. Put on a costume and shuffle through the CBD with a few thousand other zombies. The Manor of Mischief — proper haunted-house style night out. Ramfest Halloween — Silverstein (Canada) + Fokofpolisiekar + Jack Parow + Fokof Night Emo Night. Festival vibe, multiple bars, food trucks. Halloween in the Hof (Kirstenhof) — 6-9pm, R25 a ticket. Family trick-or-treat walk, ghost tunnel, fire dancers, food. Perfect if you've got kids. Dirtopia Halloween Forest Night Trail Run — Muratie Wine Estate, Stellenbosch, 31 Oct. Trail run/walk in costume through the forest, live music. Dracula (Cape Town City Ballet) — if you want culture with your spooky. Johannesburg The Haunted Forest (10th anniversary) — fog-filled forest walk, scare actors, life-size scenes, horror movies on the big screen. The big one in Joburg. Gold Reef City Halloween Movie Night — open-air cinema, picnic basket for two, screening of A Nightmare on Elm Street. Rides included. Durban / Umdloti The Masquerade — Black Umhlanga, 31 Oct, 6:30pm, R80. Masquerade ball vibe on the coast. My pick for this weekend: Got kids? Halloween in the Hof or the Zombie Walk. Want to party? Ramfest or The Manor. Want something different? The Stellenbosch forest night run. What's everyone doing? Drop your plans in the comments — I need to decide between Ramfest and the Zombie Walk.

Zombie Walk every year. It's free, the dogs love it, and you end up at a pub in the CBD by 8pm. Perfect.
