I tried SouthAfricanCupid for 3 months. Every single "woman" was a scammer.
Lerato ·Signed up to SouthAfricanCupid on a mate's recommendation, cancelled after three months, and honestly wish I'd never bothered: I made a blank profile with no photo and got 11 messages in 48 hours, every "match" pushed WhatsApp within a day, one of them needed R4,800 for her "aunt's" hospital bill in PE after three days, and reverse-image searching their photos turned up Instagram models, a UK estate agent's stock pic, and an old Facebook page — none of them would do a 10-minute video call, money came up shockingly fast, and half weren't even actually local. Cupid Media takes your money and does zero vetting, the whole site is basically a scammer marketplace, so rather use a local interest group, Tinder/Bumble with your real town, or just don't bother — and whatever you do, never send money to someone you've never met in person.
